It’s no secret that we love weddings, but even more than that, we LOVE marriage! It’s why we chose to specialize in weddings & engagements. There are few things we love more than watching our couples begin their own marriage journeys, and getting to share in those special moments with them. A beautiful bride in white, a dashing groom who can’t stop smiling, promises of endless adventures together; we just can’t get enough of those moments! But as the old saying goes: “Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite.” So, we thought it was about time to finally share OUR STORY with all of you!
If you missed a previous part of our story, check it out first below!
With Brandon’s high school graduation quickly approaching, they had to start figuring out what came next, for them. Brandon had already applied and been accepted to Montana State University in Bozeman, which was two hours away from their hometown. At that point, they were both living with their parents. Sara had a job in town that she liked, and enjoyed being close to her family, but the more they talked about what came after Brandon’s graduation, the choice became crystal clear, really, really, reaaaally fast: Sara would move to Bozeman with Brandon!
They couldn’t imagine being apart, and there really wasn’t a solid reason for Sara to stay in their hometown. Plus, one of Sara’s best friends had a boyfriend who was going to college in Bozeman as well, and she too had decided to move there with him, which meant Sara had the perfect person to become her first roommate (outside of her college dorm days). Bonus awesome factor: that friend was also the same one who’s house Sara & Brandon met at! Sara and her best friend began the hunt for the perfect apartment near campus, where both of their boys would be living in the dorms. After road tripping to Bozeman to check out different places, they finally settled on one near campus, in their price range. They signed the lease, and continued hunting for jobs. Sara ended up getting hired at Border’s bookstore, and they asked her to start a few weeks earlier than they had intended to make the move, which meant that Sara would be spending the first few weeks in a new city, alone. Brandon couldn’t get up there as early as she would have to, and they were both dreading the time apart.
But Brandon being the amazingly thoughtful man that he is had a plan… he had been spending hours filling up pages of a notebook with letters to Sara. One letter for each day they would be apart. Each letter sealed so she couldn’t peek ahead, wrapped up along with the movie Remember Me. Sara was nearly in tears when she opened his gift; it was the most thoughtful thing she’d ever received. She spent every night that first week laying on the floor of her new room (they hadn’t moved furniture up yet), watching Remember Me on her laptop, reading that day's letter from her love. With each passing letter she was reminded that it was one day closer to Brandon joining her for their new adventure.
Before long Brandon joined Sara in Bozeman, along with her best friend / roommate and her boyfriend. The girls quickly realized that while the boys lived on campus, they had no intentions of actually living on campus. Their two bedroom apartment quickly became filled with the four of them, and the memories that followed were countless. They spent six amazing months crammed into that tiny apartment together, drinking too much cheap beer, and laughing through all hours of the night. But at the end of that semester, their friends decided it was time for them to move back to Billings (side note, those two are now married too!). After doing some math (probably by Brandon, because if you read Part 4 of Our Story, you know how Sara feels about math!) they quickly realized that they wouldn’t be able to stay in the apartment they had shared with their friends; it was too expensive for just the two of them. So they began to hunt for a place of their own! They had high hopes and big dreams about their very first apartment (they considered the one they’d been in Sara & her friends, because really the boys did pay to live on campus). However, those dreams were quickly squashed... Like a bug on your windshield.
Check back next week for Part 8: The Ramen Days!
