“He proposed on the way to my mother’s house for dinner, under the gazebo at the Hideaway in Four Corners. Friends were hiding in the bushes taking photos, my sister unintentionally crashed, and the dogs were running around. It was perfectly chaotic.”

When I read Katie’s description of Joel’s proposal a few months back I instantly got crazy excited to work with these two! PERFECTLY CHAOTIC – there’s just something about that phrase that I love, and totally get. Friends. Dogs. Laughs. Love. It was only natural that all those things play a part in their engagement session too!

I met Katie and Joel at Bridger Bowl to kick off their session. She skis, he boards, and they wanted snow in their pictures - I couldn’t think of a better place. They showed up with their two fur-babies in tow, plus their friend/roomie, Lena, and her pup to help wrangle the dogs and provide moral support for the nervous Miss Katie! Lena being the rockstar friend she is also brought liquid courage for Katie and Joel to help ease their nerves. So instead of jumping right into pictures we stood in the middle of an empty, half-melted ski run and busted out a bottle of wine while we chatted and laughed and the dogs ran in circles around us having the best time.

A couple minutes later we started shooting, and I couldn’t fathom why Katie was nervous about coming to her session; she ROCKED it. Seriously. She was stunning. And Joel had this uncanny ability to make Katie laugh in an instant, plus he could drop a “Blue Steel” face like a pro. I was impressed, and spent most of their session laughing. I’m not quite sure how I always get the BEST clients, but these two are definitely my kind of people! Up for any adventure, full of laughter, and crazy in love with each other. Plus, we all had the same plan for after their session: Race home for Game of Thrones! Needless to say, I’m already insanely excited for their fall wedding  [wink]

So without further ado, enjoy some highlights from their stunning engagement session!
